Write better prompts
Give the model a role, a goal, constraints, and an example of the format you want.
ClearPrompt helps beginners and busy professionals get useful results from AI tools. Every lesson on this page is free to read. There are no plans, checkout pages, or payment requests.
AI is a drafting partner, not a mind reader. The skill is learning how to ask, review, and refine. This site teaches that process in plain English.
Give the model a role, a goal, constraints, and an example of the format you want.
Treat every answer as a first draft. Verify facts, names, numbers, and sources yourself.
Ask for one improvement at a time: shorter, more specific, more formal, or more structured.
Keep private data private. Disclose AI help when it matters. Do not present generated text as original research.
Start here. Each lesson is self-contained so you can practice with any general-purpose AI chat tool.
Most weak results come from vague requests. Include: (1) who the AI should act as, (2) the task, (3) limits such as length or audience, and (4) the output format.
Instead of “explain marketing,” say who you are, what you already know, and what decision you need to make. Context turns a lecture into advice you can use.
If you need a checklist, table, outline, or script, say so. Structured output is easier to edit and harder for the model to fill with filler.
AI can invent citations, dates, and product details. Use it to draft questions, summarize your own notes, or list what to double-check. Confirm important claims with primary sources.
Do not paste passwords, medical records, unpublished business secrets, or other people’s personal data into a public AI tool. Replace names with placeholders when you practice.
Copy any of these into an AI chat, then edit the result. The goal is not a perfect first answer — it is a faster second draft.
Explain [topic] to a smart 16-year-old. Use an everyday analogy, then list 3 common misconceptions and correct them in one sentence each.
Here are my goals and constraints: [list]. Propose a realistic weekly schedule with 90-minute focus blocks, breaks, and one buffer afternoon.
Do not rewrite yet. First tell me the three weakest parts of this draft and why. Then offer two options for a stronger opening. Draft: [paste]
